Tanuki’s Type III jacket modernizes the classic silhouette with a slightly longer body, trimmer sleeves, and the practical addition of side pockets. It’s made from their 15oz IDxID Selvedge, a loosely woven denim crafted from Texas cotton with both warp and weft rope-dyed in indigo for a deep, inky tone. The result is a soft yet slubby fabric with tons of texture and incredible fade potential - over time, the raised slubs begin to wear down first, revealing electric blue highlights that pop against the darker base. This fabric is known for fast and dramatic contrast fading, and the looser weave makes it more wearable across seasons despite its weight. The Type III cut keeps the iconic front pleats and chest pockets while updating the fit and functionality, making this one of Tanuki’s most visually expressive and sought-after jackets.

Fit Notes: Shop owner Tommy is wearing a size 42 in the pictures. These are fitting a bit more true to what we're used to seeing in a Type III. He has been wearing a large from most brands, and that falls in line with the 42 in this piece. We recommend you size up at least once. Tommy is 5'10," 165lbs with a 40" chest.
