SJDH25-H - 17oz Zero Plus Denim - Happi Coat

The SJDH25-H Happi Coat from Samurai takes a centuries-old garment and rebuilds it with whopping 17oz denim and meticulous Japanese craftsmanship. Made from Samurai’s Zero+ denim and dyed in their deepest indigo, this piece offers both texture and evolution - with fades that emerge gradually, revealing depth and character over years of wear.

Inspired by traditional happi coats, it features a relaxed, roomy silhouette that’s unlined through the body for breathability but lined in the sleeves for easy rolling and layering. If the sleeves are too short, they've added this awesome, extra allowance for you to extend them as needed. The collar and front placket are made from an indigo-dyed reed pattern known as yokogara - a horizontally striped fabric that adds a subtle yet distinct contrast to the piece. It’s a thoughtful mix of heritage and modern craftsmanship, embodying the Samurai ethos in a completely different form.

Fit Notes: Happi coats are a super unique fit in comparison to all other Japanese outerwear. They're built to be worn open and boxy fit with generally shorter arms. Luckily, as we mentioned above, you can adjust those as needed with the help of a trusted tailor. Tommy is wearing a large in this piece. He really liked the fit but could definitely size up to an XL for an even more cozy or stylistic look. We recommend you snag the next size up if you're on the fence. Tommy is 5'10," 162lbs with a 40" chest.
