S2000HXII - 15.8oz "Samurai Cotton GL3" Selvedge Denim - Relaxed Straight

Samurai’s Vintage Series draws from denim worn in the late 1940s and 1950s, capturing the irregularity and character of early postwar jeans. This fabric is woven on vintage Toyoda GL3 shuttle looms - somethign that is becoming extermely rare with long lead times - using a mix of short-staple Texas cotton in the warp and Samurai’s own homegrown “cotton project” yarns in the weft. That combination produces a low-tension weave with natural variation, giving the denim a lively surface and a distinctly vintage hand.

The yarns are dyed to a period-correct vintage blue, reinforcing the midcentury reference, while a single rinse removes shrinkage and readies the denim for wear. Cut in Samurai’s Relaxed Straight fit, the silhouette features a high rise with room through the thigh and a full, straight leg. Finished with the brand’s signature hardware and detailing rooted in its warrior ethos, this is a dense, expressive denim built to age with depth and nuance.

Fit Notes: Shop owner Tommy is wearing a 35 in these. He decided to go up on every pair from this series, and it was a welcome jump. He likes the extra room these provide in the leg and waist, but that may not be for everyone. For that reason, we only recommend sizing up once in these. Tommy is 5'9,' 165lbs with a 33-34" waist.
