This one’s a milestone for us. After years of carrying Studio D’Artisan’s work and admiring their legacy from afar, we finally had the opportunity to collaborate on something truly our own - a custom silhouette built just for our shop. The D1897RS takes everything we love about the original Kakishibu Sashiko fabric and puts it in a fit that’s tailored to our style philosophy: clean through the top block, roomy where it counts, and wearable from day one.
The fabric is the same standout 15.5oz jacquard-woven sashiko, with an indigo rope-dyed warp and a Kakishibu-dyed weft that brings in those warm, earthy undertones. As you wear them, the texture blooms - shrinking around the woven sashiko threads and letting the dimensionality of the weave evolve with time. It is easily the most stunning iteration of sashiko we've seen in all our years doing this. It’s rugged, traditional, and full of depth, and now it’s paired with a fit you won’t find anywhere else. We couldn’t be more proud to put our name on this collaboration.

Fit Notes: These fit like a traditional pair of Studio D'artisan, which is smaller than most brands. Tommy is wearing a 36 which is one size up from what he normally buys from Studio. In this roomier cut, the waist is fairly close to the slimmer version, so the waist was once again pretty roomy. He would likely size back down to a 34 for the best fit in the waist. If you don't know your size, check those size charts and go with our recommendation of sizing up once, at a minimum. Tommy is 5'10," 165lbs with a 33-34" waist.
