14oz - Citrus Kasuri Selvedge - True Guy

The Citrus Kasuri Weft Selvedge is one of those fabrics that completely changes once you understand what’s happening beneath the surface. At first glance it reads like a classic indigo pair, but the real character is hidden inside the weave. This 14oz Japanese selvedge uses a traditional Kasuri dyeing technique on the weft yarns, creating a vibrant citrus-toned interior that slowly reveals itself as the denim breaks in.

Instead of inserting solid-colored weft yarns, the Kasuri process binds and selectively dyes sections of yarn before weaving. Each yarn carries alternating yellow and green segments, which produces an organic, irregular pattern inside the fabric rather than clean stripes. As the indigo warp fades with wear, those citrus tones begin to emerge through abrasions and high-wear areas, giving the denim a layered look that evolves over time.

Because Kasuri dyeing is slow and extremely labor-intensive, fabrics like this are rarely produced and almost never at scale. The result is a denim that starts understated and gradually becomes something far more expressive with age.

Fit Notes: This series felt like a very traditional Naked & Famous fit to us. Tommy is accidentally wearing a size 33 in this. His standard size is a 34. These felt too slim for him, but may feel perfect for those looking for a trim fit. Tommy is 5'9", 165lbs with a 33-34" waist. 

*The True Guy is a straight leg fit with a medium rise along with extra room in the seat and thigh that falls straight from knee to hem.*
